Modelfusa, a manufacturer in Manresa, Spain, relied on a single Hexagon CMM running PC-DMIS for its quality control. When the CMM controller unexpectedly failed, hundreds of existing PC-DMIS part programs were suddenly at risk.
Hexagon’s replacement was prohibitively expensive — a new controller plus a mandatory PC-DMIS upgrade. Retrofits from other providers (a Renishaw controller and new software) would have meant rewriting every part program: slow and costly.
CMM service company NM3Diberica introduced the EasyCMM Chameleon controller — a plug-and-play retrofit that needs no cable cutting, stays compatible with the existing PC-DMIS software, and preserves all part programs unchanged.
The controller was installed and calibrated in under two days, at a fraction of the cost of the alternatives. Existing software and part programs stayed intact, and Modelfusa kept its quality-control process running without disruption.
