Mediator Direct
Native Controller Protocol Communication
Mediator Direct talks directly to your CMM controller using its native protocol. This eliminates the need for an intermediate interface, offering a seamless, zero-latency connection for specific software ecosystems.
Built for PC-DMIS and MCOSMOS users who want to:
- Keep their existing part programs unchanged
- Drive a non-native CMM brand with their preferred inspection software
- Preserve full controller-level error compensation and probing performance
- Avoid operator retraining, the inspection software looks and behaves exactly the same
Currently supported with Mediator Direct:
- PC-DMIS driving Mitutoyo, Zeiss, LK, Wenzel, and other supported CMM controllers
- MCOSMOS driving Hexagon, Zeiss, LK, Wenzel, and other supported CMM controllers
Mediator Direct is expanding, more inspection platforms coming.
Mediator I++ Server
Standardized I++ DME Interface

Mediator I++ Server is the right choice if you run:
PolyWorks · Calypso · Verisurf · Metrolog · Modus · Camio · TouchDMIS · Quartis · CM · Rational-DMIS · Power Inspect · NX-CMM (Siemens) or practically any software with an I++ client module.
What you get:
- Freedom to use or switch between any I++-compatible inspection platform
- A single, unified workflow across a mixed-brand CMM fleet
- Hardware stays untouched, no retrofit, no rewiring

Seamless Deployment from the Quality Lab to the Shop Floor
Whether your Coordinate Measuring Machines are housed in a climate-controlled inspection lab or deployed directly in rugged, high-throughput shop floor environments, Mediator bridges the gap. By standardizing on a single software interface across all environments, you reduce operator confusion, eliminate production bottlenecks, and ensure consistent data reporting from raw machining to final inspection.
Common Enterprise pairings
The examples below are some of the most common Mediator deployments running across production facilities today:
Run PC-DMIS on a Mitutoyo CMM (Mediator Direct)
Keep your existing PC-DMIS part programs and operator workflow while driving a Mitutoyo machine as if it were a Hexagon. No reprogramming, no hardware swap, no retraining.
Run PC-DMIS on a Zeiss CMM (Mediator Direct)
Use PC-DMIS to drive Zeiss hardware natively, preserving Zeiss controller compensation and your existing PC-DMIS measurement plans.
Run MCOSMOS on a Hexagon CMM (Mediator Direct)
Drive any Hexagon CMM from MCOSMOS as if it were a Mitutoyo machine, full part-program compatibility, no rewrites.
Run Calypso on a Hexagon or Mitutoyo CMM (Mediator I++ Server)
Use Zeiss Calypso to drive non-Zeiss hardware through the I++ interface, keeping your measurement plans intact.
Run Verisurf, Metrolog, or any I++ client on any supported CMM (Mediator I++ Server)
Any inspection software with an I++ client module can drive any Mediator-supported controller, giving you full freedom to choose, switch, or unify your software stack.

FAQ
What is Mediator?
Mediator is a software bridge that lets CMM owners run their preferred inspection software on the CMM hardware they already own — no retrofits required. It can drive all leading CMM brands and models with practically any major inspection software, supporting tactile probes, scanning touch probes, and Kreon line laser heads.
What’s the difference between Mediator Direct and Mediator I++ Server?
Mediator Direct talks to the CMM controller using its native protocol, giving you the most direct connection available with behavior as close to a factory-native setup as possible. It currently supports PC-DMIS and MCOSMOS. Mediator I++ Server uses the standardized I++ DME interface and supports every other major inspection platform — Calypso, PolyWorks, Verisurf, Metrolog, and more. Both eliminate the need for hardware changes.
Will Mediator Direct support my inspection software in the future?
We are actively extending Mediator Direct to additional inspection platforms. If you run software outside PC-DMIS and MCOSMOS today, Mediator I++ Server already supports you — and you can sign up to be notified when Direct support arrives for your specific software.
Will Mediator Direct support my inspection software in the future?
For error maps that live in the CMM controller, Mediator transmits points after the controller has already compensated them. For error maps stored on the PC running the original CMM client software, Mediator reads the map, builds its own internal error map, and uses it to compensate the values coming from the controller.
How does Mediator handle compensation values?
PC-DMIS and MCOSMOS via Mediator Direct. PolyWorks, Calypso, Verisurf, Metrolog, Modus, Camio, TouchDMIS, Quartis, CM, Rational-DMIS, Power Inspect, NX-CMM (Siemens), and practically any software with an I++ client module via Mediator I++ Server.
Which CMM client software is supported?
Hexagon FB2/B3C, DC240C/DC800, RC1 · Leitz B3/B4/B5 · Mitutoyo UC100/200/300/400 and CMMC-1/3/5 · LK Nikon NMC100/200/300 · Pantec Eagle · Wenzel WPC 2010/2020/2030/2040 · Zeiss C99L · Sheffield UMP 360 · Sharpe32.
Do I need to retrain my operators?
No. Operators continue using the inspection software they already know — PC-DMIS, MCOSMOS, Calypso, PolyWorks, or any other supported platform. The interface and workflow are identical to a native setup.
Can Mediator run on my existing PC, or do I need new hardware?
Mediator runs on a standard Windows PC alongside your inspection software. No new hardware is required.
Does Mediator work with line laser scanning, not just tactile probes?
Yes. Mediator supports tactile probes, scanning touch probes, and Kreon line laser heads.
Which CMM controllers are supported?
The annual service and maintenance fee is not mandatory but is strongly recommended. Our team continuously updates Mediator to maintain compatibility with evolving CMM controllers and inspection software. The fee covers critical software updates, ongoing compatibility, and support if you run into problems. If maintenance lapses, accumulated fees must be paid retroactively to restore and update Mediator to the current version.
Do I need to retrain my operators?
No. Mediator does not violate any intellectual property. It provides interoperability between machines and inspection software already in the CMM market and adds functionality on top. Mediator is already used by many CMM manufacturers, retrofitters, and end users worldwide.
