Mediator
Free to Connect & Operate
Mediator is an innovative software solution that connects your existing Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) controller with most of the inspection software in the market, eliminating the need for hardware retrofits or vendor dependence.
Double Versions – Seamless & Direct
The Mediator is available in two versions:
Mediator Direct
Facilitates a direct connection between inspection software and existing CMM controllers, eliminating It + dependencies. With this capability, leading software brands can seamlessly run on leading CMM machines.
Mediator I++ Server
A universal server, seamlessly connecting CMM inspection software with its’ I++ client module. Easy to configure and interface with existing CMM controllers, users can define probe heads and sensors for optimal performance. Finally, once set up, the part program becomes readily available for execution.
Why Mediator?
Maintaining Integral Existing Assets
Retrofit your CMM – no need for hardware upgrading, part-program rewriting, or I++ protocol adaptation.
Retaining Error Maps
Maintain existing error-map with original precision across various CMM brands – directly reading and compensating almost any existing error-map in the market.
Flexibility & Versatility
Effortlessly use multiple inspection software on the same machine.
Fast, Cost-Effective Retrofits
Retrofitting with Mediator software set up time takes only a few hours, dramatically saving time and cost
How Does Mediator Work?

Technical Specifications
Mediator works with a variety of applications, enabling for example:
- PC-DMIS by Hexagon to drive Mitutoyo, Zeiss and any other machine.
- MCOSMOS by Mitutoyo to drive Hexagon, Zeiss and any other machine.
- CLYPSO by Zeiss to drive Mitutoyo, Hexagon any other machine.
- Compatibility with a variety of error maps:
- Hexagon (DEA, B&S)
- Mitutoyo
- Zeiss
- LK
- Wenzel
- Mapper supports 6, 21 and up to 34 parameters and helps with calculating new linearity and squareness values, based on the new collected compensation values.

FAQ
What is Mediator?
Mediator is a disruptive software that enables CMM owners to work with any CMM client software of their choice, while keeping their existing CMM hardware and controller in place – no retrofits required. Mediator can drive all leading CMM brands and models with any CMM client software. For example: Mediator enables PC-DMIS part programs to drive a Mitutoyo machine as if it were a Hexagon machine, MCOSMOS to drive any Zeiss machine as if it were a Mitutoyo machine, Calypso to drive any Hexagon machine as if it were Zeiss machine, etc. Mediator supports both tactile and scanning touch probes as well as line laser heads of Kreon.
How Does it Work?
On the one hand, Mediator acts as a universal I++ server, so the CMM client software can use its I++ client module to send its I++ driving and measuring commands to Mediator. On the other hand, the user configures Mediator to connect with the CMM controller and defines the probe heads and sensors to work with. Then the magic happens: the part program of the chosen CMM software sends I++ commands to Mediator, which converts them, in real-time, to the proprietary driver commands of the CMM controller, and thus executes the program as if the user who has chosen client software was the original CMM software.
How does Mediator handle compensation values?
For error-maps that reside in the CMM controller – Mediator simply transmits the points while they have already been compensated by the original controller. For error-maps which are located in the PC that runs the original CMM client software – Mediator reads the map from that PC, and then creates its own error-map and use it to compensate the values coming from the CMM controller.

Is there a mandatory annual service and maintenance
fee for the Mediator Software?
While the Mediator annual service and maintenance fee is not mandatory, it is strongly recommended. Our software team continuously updates the Mediator to ensure compatibility with evolving CMM manufacturer and inspection software communication components.
The service and maintenance fee enables us to:
- Provide critical software updates
- Maintain seamless communication compatibility
- Ensure your software remains current and functional
- Supports you in case of problems using Mediator
Please note that if the service and maintenance fee lapses, customers will be required to pay the accumulated maintenance fees retroactively to restore and update the Mediator software to the current version.
Are there any legal constraints for using Mediator?
Mediator does not violate any IP. It simply gives you access to machines and inspection software in the CMM market and builds an additional functionality on top of it. Mediator is already used by many CMM providers, retrofitters and end users.
